ABOUT

AND LET IT SHOW

BUILD YOUR BRACELET

Well ... I guess I should start with myself.

If you don't care then please skip ahead. :-)

My name is Heather and all of this stated in college. I was part of a medieval reenactment group. (Go TMT!) One year we needed to make chainmaille costumes for our Vikings. It's a long story, but turns out I was pretty good at it. So, thank you Sproffee and John Saul for teaching me and helping me hone my skills.

Over the years I got better. I started making things that were smaller, more delicate, and  complicated. A lot of friends kept saying I was an artist. I don't know if that’s true, but their confidence in me eventually lead here. I hope that you enjoy their prompting and my finished product *Chainmaille Charms*.

Chainmaille is a wonderful craft. The official definition: Mail (chainmail, maille) is a type of armor consisting of small metal rings linked together in a pattern to form a mesh. Apparently the oldest chainmaille was found in a Celtic chief's burial place in Romania (according to Wikipedia). You have probably seen chainmaille suits of armor at renaissance faires or on TV shows about kings and knights. Those take a lot of time and effort. But there are hundreds of things that can be made from these rings. I personally make jewelry. This also takes a lot of effort, because it is hard to work with metal that is smaller than a dime.

(Some are about the size of  lint balls.)

Anyway on this website you will see a handful of creative things that chainmaille can make.

Creative personalization. Before now, I have only given away my chainmaille for presents. It was personal. Every piece had  my love and care in it, as it went to a friend.

I didn't want to make a bunch of random chainmaille and sell it online. My hobby would lose its purpose. So, I decided that you should design your own art. I have the basic templates, but you chose the size, the colors, the design. Then the work is yours. This jewelry is made especially for you and I can put my heart into that. I can have fun and still pass on my care through each link I work on. I hope that my excitement shines though and that you are happy with the art that you designed.

Good Luck. I'll be around if you need me.

Luv Ya,

Heather
